What is futsal

Futsal is an adaptation of soccer that is played indoors. It is played in areas called "multiuse sports" where other sports such as volleyball, basketball or badminton are played. There are two teams with five players each using a smaller but heavier ball than the one used in soccer.

The dimensions of the area of play are in a proximity of 24/42 metres long by 14/22 metres wide. The ball weighs between 410/500 grams and has a circumference of 53/62cm. The net measures three metres wide by two metres high and the goalkeeper area is marked by equidistant lines of four metres of the goal line.

Similarly to soccer the objective of the game is to score goals although some rules are exclusive to futsal. Played with lines, the ball is returned to play with kick-in either from the side or corner. After the fifth fault conceded there is no wall for direct free kick from ten metres. Players who commit the fifth foul will be declassified and the goalkeeper must put the ball back in the game with his hand or feet. The duration of the game is forty minutes (two parts of twenty) and different time applied for youthful.
